Ashlaren dogs of the past

Remembering some very special Weimaraners who have been a part of our Ashlaren journey

Aust Ch Ghostwind Lady Madonna CDX "Donna"

Sire: Aust Ch Ghostwind Claim to Fame ("Fame")
Dam: Nani's Charmin of Ghostwind LH (IMP USA)

Donna was the foundation bitch of Ashlaren. It was in the '80's when she bounced out of a crate off the plane from Perth and into the lives of our young family.  For many years she was the matriarch of the Ashlaren brood, and gave us many lovely Ashlaren puppies, including our first home bred Champion, Aust Ch Ashlaren Galena.

Donna always showed outstanding hunting instincts, great temperament and high intelligence all of which she has passed on to her progeny.

Aust Ch Ashlaren Galena "Galena"

Dam: Aust Ch Ghostwind Lady Madonna CDX ("Donna")
Sire: Ghostwind Diamond ("Saint")

Galena was the first home bred Champion at Ashlaren.  A beautifully moving girl with a sweet temperament, she also gave us beautiful puppies.  Galena is the mother of Xavier and Jordan.

Aust Ch Ashlaren Xavier "Xavier"

Sire: Aust Ch Lindridge Wee Jasper
Dam: Aust Ch Ashlaren Galena ("Galena")
28 April 1991 - 14 July 2002

Xavier was a great show dog, but first and foremost he was a great companion.  Rachel's favourite boy, he was known for his sweet, friendly and outgoing temperament.  At 11 months of age Xavier took out PUPPY IN SHOW at the 1992 SYDNEY ROYAL EASTER SHOW beating over 1000 puppies of all breeds that were entered at the Royal that year.  He was titled at 13 months, and was a multi Best in Group and in Show winner and was a winner of Weimaraner of the Year in the Weimaraner Club of NSW Point Score.

He is the sire and grandsire of Grand Champion Weimaraners in Australia. Xavier was always a true gentleman and we miss him dearly.

Aust Ch Ashlaren Air Jordan "Jordan"

Sire: Aust Ch Lindridge Wee Jasper
Dam: Aust Ch Ashlaren Galena ("Galena")

Xavier's litter sister, Jordan, was a great hunter, often bringing rabbits home.  Although she didn't enjoy the show ring as much as her brother, her effortless movement and aristocratic expression meant she was easily titled to her Aust Championship. Jordon was also a Weimaraner Specialty Best in Show Winner.

Aust Ch Ashlaren Jacqueline ("Jackie")

Sire: American Ch, Canadian Ch, Aust Grand Ch Divani Loads a Trouble ("Lazer")
Dam: Aust Ch Ashlaren Air Jordan ("Jordan")

Jackie's litter brother (Ch Ashlaren Jean Pierre) was exported to Sweden where he did exceptionally well in the show ring there

Ashlaren Career Girl "Rhea"

Sire: Berlenga Moonlight Mile
Dam: Aust Ch Ashlaren Evita ("Evita")

Rhea lived a long & happy life was lovingly cared for by her personal vet Dr Katrina Stewart and the rest of the Stewart Family in Wollongong, NSW.

Aust Ch Ashlaren Eye Catcher ("Katie")

Sire: Aust Ch Centen Fantus
Dam: Ashlaren Career Girl ("Rhea")

Katie at 10 and half years old was the current "head dog" at Ashlaren.  She would only go to the kennel for dinner (she wouldn't miss that!) and to visit the other dogs, but usually she spent her time following Warren or Lainie around the property at Wilton, or lying on the mat in the house.

But when it comes to Exercise Time, dear old Katie can outrun some of the younger dogs when it comes to getting to a ball first!!

Ashlaren Audrey Hepburn "Audrey"

Sire: American Ch/Aust Ch Blackforest Clark Gable (Imp USA) ("Gable")
Dam: Ashlaren Lady Mayfair ("Mayfair")
9 July 1999 - 24 April 2003

Audrey was a lovely girl, although she did not like to show very much.  Her beautful daughter Jewel has not inherited this trait!  Audrey died unexpectedly a few days after whelping her second litter.

BISS Aust Ch Ashlaren Saba Jewel “Jewel”

'Jewel is co owned with Tricia Miller of North Sydney and she is the treasured girl at Tricia's home. Jewel has had an incredible show career. She will be remembered for her elegant, noble appearance and wonderful ground covering movement. Jewel was the ultimate show girl and just loved the show ring! She was a specialty Best in Show winner. Jewel is now retired from the show ring but is always an eye catching girl, even in her senior years. Her daughter, Ashlaren Xahra, is sparingly shown due to Tricia's work commitments, but she has also had an impact on the show ring by winning Challenge Bitch at one of days of the prestigious 2008 Sydney International Spring Fair Show from Junior Class. Photo shows Jewel handled by her devoted owner, Tricia Miller.
