There were many highlights and wonderful memories made during this action packed year of 2011, for not only our Weimaraners, but for ourselves personally with the birth of our 7th Grandchild and an unforgettable 6 months touring our beautiful country.
Dogwise, Number one achievement must be winning BEST OF BREED at the WORLD DOG SHOW held in PARIS with our Canadian import - Multi International Champion/Am Ch/ Can Ch/ Aust Champion and Best in Show winner, Davora Bremar Mark of Ashlaren - 'MARK' - expertly handled by Edwin Lenearts of Greyclassics Weimaraners,Belgium.
Mark' was awarded this honour by Swiss judge, Monsieur Laurent Pritchard, a Weimaraner breed specialist, from a huge entry of Weimaraners from around Europe and some Weimaraners that had travelled to the prestigious World Dog Show from the USA.
Earlier in 2011, Judge Pritchard awarded Mark's young daughter, Aust Ch Ashlaren Mark's Zaleta, RUNNER UP BEST IN SHOW and PUPPY IN SHOW in Canberra when he judged the Weimaraner Specialty there in February.....so that is consistent judging to a type! Mark's latest progeny in Europe has won Baby in Show at the Eurodog Show, another prestigious show held recently in Europe, whilst Mark's progeny has continued to do well here in Australia, with his son, Aust Ch Ashbolt Ark Royal ('Lucas') is again this year, the No 1 National Breed Winner (Rising Star) -no Weimaraner has won this award twice! Lucas is No 2 Weimaraner Nationally and No 1 Weimaraner in Qld (Dogzonline Point Score).
Lucas is getting very close to his Grand Championship and he is not 2 years old yet! Congratulations to Amanda Williamson on the all the Best in Group, class in Show and Runner Up Best in Show wins that Lucas has won this year!
A close second to Lucas is Aust Ch Ashlaren Diamonds Are For Eva ('Eva'), who gained her Australian Championship at just on 12 months, and whilst still in Junior class, is almost half way to her GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP!! Special thanks to Eva's wonderful handler, Amy Page, who has taken Eva to several BEST IN GROUP wins as well as RUNNER UP BEST IN SHOW (All Breeds), her RU Best in Show at the age of 13 months...what an outstanding team!
In New South Wales, the top Weimaraner of the Year and Bitch of the Year for 2011 (Weimaraner Club of NSW Point Score competition) was Ch Carnmellis Jovita Ashlaren, ('Madison'), whose dam is Multi Best in Show winner and NZ Weimaraner of the Year - Aust/NZ Ch Ashlaren Sophie Sapphire (Exp NZ). Congratulations to David Hall, a relatively new comer to the dog show scene, who campaigned Madison to this highly contested honour. NSW RU Puppy of the Year was Ashlaren Lulu Loves To Limbo, co owned with David Hall. Great achievements David!!
Congratulations to all the winners and place getters who did so well in the NSW Weimaraner Club Point Score competition this year.
Another new exhibitor who has had a fantastic start to her show career is Tash Greig who bought Ashlaren High Calibre (Callie) from us as a baby and decided to have some fun showing her. What fun Tash has had in such a short time with beautiful Callie and has won multi class in Groups, a class in show and has already gained valuable points towards her title with Callie. Well done Tash and Brad!
Congratulations to Bev Quinlan (Greyghost Weimaraners) in Qld on the many successes of her puppies sired by Multi Int Ch Ashlaren Caipiroska. In Victoria, Diane Brown (Silvasheen Weimaraners) is expecting another lovely litter sired by Oska. Diane was so impressed by her first litter sired by Oska that she decided to repeat the mating. Good Luck Diane with more successful ring stars from this repeat mating. We can also look forward to Oska puppies due to arrive soon at Ashlaren Park!
With several new Ashlaren champions this year, many successes in the show rings at home and abroad, as well as a carefree journey around Australia for Warren and myself, it has been a very memorable and happy year. In 2012. We look forward to having Mark return to Australian from his very successful campaign in Europe soon and continue his show career here in Australia. I know how much Edwin and Kristina will miss Mark but there are several outstanding puppies sired by Mark in varous parts of Europe as a reminder of this beautiful dog.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a New Year enriched with good health and happiness.
